Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a post-apocalyptic reinvention of the classic novel Journey to the West, from more than 400 years ago. Set 150 years from now, the game shows us a world destroyed by war and ecological disasters, in which only a handful of survivors survive. In Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, players play Monkey, a strong and athletic yet lonely figure, who has been captured by one of the mysterious slave ships, who harvest what little population remains to carry them west, from where they never return. Trip, a young and intelligent technological woman who is also a prisoner on that ship, manages to escape. It doesn't take long for him to realize that Monkey, with his brute strength and power, is his only hope of surviving the dangerous journey home.
He hacks a slave tape and dons it to Monkey, linking them at all levels: if she dies, he dies ... Their journey has become his as well, and Monkey must travel west with Trip as they traverse a world destroyed, always under constant threat of mortal danger and of being captured.
