EA Sports has announced a new video game for Wii, NHL Slapshot, a hockey sports title that will continue the tradition of the Nintendo console of having all kinds of peripherals, bringing with it a small accessory in the shape of a hockey stick.
"I think we wanted to do it until we could get it right," said Joe Nickolls, an executive at Electronic Arts. "Wii is, in a way, a challenging console because it doesn't look like anything."
"The stick is the key element of differentiation," added David Littman, creative behind the project. "Being able to shoot or fight for possession with someone in our own living room ... is hockey in your living room, just the opposite of playing it with a pad."
